Portable-support comparisons assume the uprights sit 12 inches wider than the paper. Replace that assumption with your measured support dimensions in the planner. These are physical clearances, not lens framing predictions.
Inspectable math
BackdropFit uses the backdrop plane as zero. Behind it: the rear support footprint. In front: the largest of the support feet, floor sweep, or complete subject–camera–operator chain. The sweep is not counted twice.

A setup is “tight” only when remaining clearance is smaller than the buffer you chose.
Initial pull is calculated from geometry. Future floor cuts use the amount you enter, because studio practices differ.
Lens, sensor, orientation and camera position change the captured frame. BackdropFit does not guarantee edge-free framing.

Manufacturer guides are useful starting points. Your room, assembled support and intended subject zone decide the final fit.
Often used for headshots, three-quarter portraits, children, pets and smaller products.
A middle width for a single full-body subject when 107 inches is difficult to transport or support.
A common studio width for full-body work, groups, pets and sets—but the roll and stand need real clearance.
A broad studio width for larger groups, wide compositions and set builds when the room and support can carry the extra span.
The extra length can curve onto the floor for full-body work while retaining a relatively narrow width.

Start with the physical subject zone and the margin you want on both sides. Then verify that the backdrop, assembled support, floor sweep and camera working distance all fit the room. A backdrop can cover the subject yet still fail because its stand or working depth is too large.
A floor sweep is backdrop material that curves from the vertical background onto the floor. The curve removes a hard wall–floor horizon and gives full-body subjects, products or props a continuous background.
Usually not. A portable support’s uprights and feet can extend beyond the paper roll. Measure the assembled outer width and foot footprint rather than relying on the paper width alone.
No. It checks user-entered physical coverage and room envelopes. Sensor size, focal length, camera orientation and camera movement determine what appears in the captured frame.
No. Calculations, saved plans and share-link creation happen in your browser. A shared URL contains the measurements you chose to include, so treat it like any other document you share.
Before the shoot
Follow the support manufacturer’s load limits, assembly instructions and counterweight guidance. Secure floor material to reduce movement and trip hazards. BackdropFit does not assess rigging, wall or ceiling structure, wind, electrical safety, lighting coverage or exact camera framing.
